About the Gong session:
The session will begin with a welcome and general discussion about what to expect from your time with me.
Once you are comfortable, we’ll begin with a general relaxation and grounding exercise before I gently guide you into a meditation.
The gongs will then begin. You will experience the sounds and vibrations of three German Paiste Gongs- Nibiru, Moon (Synodic) and Pluto, amongst other wind gongs. You will also hear further percussive sounds and empathic instruments including singing bowls within the soundscape.
A final meditation will then guide you safely back into the space.
At the end of the sound session, there will be a very important Sunyata/Shunyata- a short period of reflective silence. It is a Sanskrit word meaning nothing, or emptiness. In this instance, it means a state of receptive stillness that is ‘full of potential’.
After the sound session, there will be fruit teas/water on offer.
What I need to tell you:
A gong bath does not involve bathing in water. No swimwear needed! The term “bath” is used as participants are “bathed” in gong sound waves to promote healing and holistic well-being.
Treatments are based on the understanding that all forms of matter vibrate at different frequencies- including all the parts that make up our bodies as a whole. General stress of “living” can change vibrations, so our bodies do not function at their optimal state. This can lead to dis-ease or ill health.
When the gongs are played, through the process of entrainment, parts of our body- cells and organs- will entrain to the gong sounds by the principle of forced resonance.
Gong vibrations stimulate Alpha, then Theta brain waves which can lead to deep relaxation and calming of body and mind.
A gong bath will be received differently by each individual. You may experience a journey with visualisation, you may find yourself working your way through problems or feelings that you have needed to address for a while. It may stimulate gentle creative thoughts.
However the session reaches you, the sounds you hear should help to quieten the chatter of your mind and encourage the softening of the day-to-day busy-ness of your thoughts.
The gong and sound bath can lead you into a deep state of relaxation. You may even find that you drift off to a deep sleep! That is absolutely OK. If you are prone to snoring, try to position yourself on your side or in a posture where you are less likely to snore. If snoring does occur, please be advised that I (or another guest) may gently tap you on the shoulder to stir you out of deep sleep into a ‘lighter’ form of relaxation.
